The Annual Assisi Animal Foundation Dinner/Dance was held on November 11th at the Crystal Lake Country Club. The evening began with a chance for guests to mingle and view the delightful items that would be auctioned off later in the evening.
Dinner started off with celebrating and thanking Veterans for their service to our country. Marine Rick Gil, an Iraqi War Veteran, gave a moving account of the struggles that so many service members deal with upon returning to civilian life. He spoke of the organization, Operation Wild Horse, which helps veterans in our area reacclimate to civilian life, through Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning sessions.
After this touching account from Rick, Steve Dale from WGN Radio, certified animal behavior consultant, columnist and author, entertained everyone with interesting and informative tips on caring for our dogs and cats. As a previous guest of the Assisi Animal Foundation’s Dinner/Dance, Steve’s insights and experiences are always appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed!
Leading the live auction was Woodstock Mayor Dr. Brian Sager. The auction items help raise funds for this wonderful animal foundation. This year there were over 100 items that were auctioned off, with all proceeds going toward shelter expenses.
A special Thank You goes out to our wonderful partners and those in attendance, for their kind generosity and support! Without you we would not continue saving innocent animals.
Don’t miss out on the fun – make plans to join us next year!
